Microcement Floor Overlay – Avoca Beach House

A luxurious Avoca Beach house recently required robust yet elegant floors to complement its Mediterranean style. Honestone’s specialists offered the perfect solution: a stunning white microcement floor overlay with superior durability and charm.

Evoking Mediterranean elegance 

This beautiful home at Avoca Beach along the NSW Central Coast was designed by MEH Architects and built by Cochran Constructions, a highly respected luxury builder. Glenn Cochran approached Honestone and presented us with the designer’s challenge.  They needed a flooring solution that would not only meet the structural requirements but also exude a bright Mediterranean atmosphere within the Spanish villa-inspired interiors. These floors had to have optimum durability yet minimal thickness, and a pure white finish.

Honestone’s microcement floor expertise

These requirements were practically impossible to meet with traditional concrete.  Only a more innovative product that better embodied the elegance and durability needed in such a distinctive project would be suitable.

Honestone’s solution was to use Mapei’s Ultratop in Bianco. Ultratop is a special compound of graded silica sand, resins and admixtures with quick-setting and self-levelling characteristics. It is excellent material for polished or natural-looking cement floors that have high abrasion resistance.

After a rigorous process of sampling and approval, Honestone’s team meticulously installed the microcement overlay at the Avoca property in two weeks. The seamless, super-thin 20mm white cement floors are now a spectacular feature throughout the home, uniting various spaces while maintaining each room’s distinctive character.
